DEİK has been operating for 39 years with voluntary membership and 152 Business Councils worldwide
Keeping the motto “Our mission is to carry our force to the world” in mind, we maintain our voluntary business diplomacy activities worldwide. DEİK, the Turkish private sector’s window to the world, has been operating for 39 years with voluntary membership and 152 Business Councils worldwide. We keep maintaining our activities with our Business Councils, Counterparts, Founding Organizations, and colleagues.
Our agenda remains as busy as ever. We are active all over the world, from our latest events, the EU-TÜRKİYE High-Level Trade Business Dialogue Roundtable Meeting in Brussels with the presence of our Minister of Trade Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, to the Türkiye - Saudi Arabia Roundtable Meeting we organized at DEİK Headquarters.
At DEİK, we also undertake essential activities for service exports, which we believe will complement goods exports and support economic growth by bringing a significant amount of foreign currency to our country. As a country, we used to think of the tourism sector when considering service exports.
Today, tourism remains one of our strongest sectors, but we are also making significant export-oriented strides in education, health, digital technologies, and culture and entertainment. Our hospitals are serving more foreign customers, our universities are attracting more international students, and our television series are reaching viewers around the world.
Ranging between USD 50-60 billion before the pandemic, our service exports recovered rapidly afterwards and reached USD 101.7 billion in 2022, surpassing the USD 100 billion threshold. Our share in global service exports reached 1.3 percent last year, up from 0.7 percent in 2020, the year of the pandemic. At DEİK, we contribute to our country’s service exports through the activities of our education, health, logistics, and digital technologies business councils. We also develop strategies for our companies in these sectors to become global brands.
In our latest journal issue focusing on “Service Exports”, we conducted our cover interview with Şekib Avdagiç, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Service Exporters’ Association, where we shared detailed insights and updates. Additionally, our DEİK Business Council Chairs shared their perspectives on service exports in key sectors including education, health, logistics, informatics, and tourism. In our journal, you can also find a wide range of content, from travel articles to current affairs.
Enjoy your reading.
