With the war between Ukraine and Russia that began in 2022, the entire world has witnessed firsthand the impact of unmanned systems on the battlefield. This situation has not only changed defense and offensive doctrines but has also highlighted the need to defend and protect our valuable assets against unmanned land, sea, and air vehicles even outside of wartime.

Today, our power plants, dams, and government buildings have become easy targets for such asymmetric threats. No matter how wellequipped and powerful the armed forces may be, it has become clear that protecting this civilian infrastructure solely through military means is not feasible. Consequently, we have come to realize that defense must be conducted across all domains and that such defense can only be achieved through a complex technological integration—spanning multiple disciplines, from sensors and radars to cyber defense and smart munitions.

Türkiye has been investing in unmanned systems for many years. Today, we are a world leader in the UAV and armed UAV (SİHA) sectors. We also have significant investments in unmanned land and sea vehicles. At Canik, we are one of the few companies capable of producing a 30x113mm caliber cannon integrated with radar systems via a remote-controlled fire control system to counter unmanned threats. With this solution, we can engage Class-3 and Class-4 drones using high-explosive munitions, and Class-1 and Class-2 drones using airburst munitions, all while integrating seamlessly with both manned and unmanned platforms. Depending on the mission, we can also offer these solutions with our 7.62mm, 12.7mm, and 20mm weapons. Soon, we will see our 30mm systems integrated into uncrewed aerial vehicles for the purpose of hunting down other drones.

As Canik, we have established a key position to meet the needs of the new world through our production facilities in Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States. We manufacture our medium- caliber cannons at our facilities in Samsun, Türkiye, and Ascot, England. Using the remotely controlled fire control systems we produce in Istanbul, we integrate these cannons into land, sea, and air platforms.

Over the past five years, Canik has invested $250 million in this sector. Our weapon systems, integrated with the Havelsan Advent Combat Management System, are also featured on the Offshore Patrol Vessel we recently sold to Romania. Our weapon systems are also used in the uncrewed naval vehicles of Ukraine, Spain, and Azerbaijan. Furthermore, our 30mm turrets are deployed in the uncrewed ground vehicles and anti-drone turrets of many countries. As Canik, we will continue to invest in technology in the right areas with the right strategies.
