Therefore Turkey has become the country in the world that realized the most capacity increase in geothermal energy with 219 megawatts. In the last period, Turkey has sped up its geothermal energy investments and increased its capacity in geothermal more than 1000 megawatts in between the years 2013-2018. Last year, eight geothermal power plants have been put into use. Therefore the number of geothermal power plants in the country has increased to 48.
